Aquarius Overview

The Water Bearer Constellation The last week of January begins the energy of Aquarius,‘The water bearer,’  A misnomer, for Aquarius is fixed air, not water, but its constellation appeared as someone pouring water from a jug, ergo the name. Aquarian energy is well represented by the cold, electric air of winter, for it seeks knowledge, it desires to move through limitation and restriction, finding  mental-spiritual re-birth.

Aquarian Age  Not only do we shift into Aquarius energy on the 19th of January, we are also moving into the ‘Age of Aquarius,’ leaving behind the Piscean age of suffering and surrendering.  Aquarius, ruled by the planet Uranus, is about moving into the future, together. Equality and brotherhood are essential.  It is important for Aquarians to not lose their Shruti, the personal heart, in drive and desire to move toward enlightenment.

AquarianValentines As a ‘fixed air sign,’ and natural revolutionaries of the zodiac, Aquarians are often obsessed.’ They have to be in order to change the world to a better place, which is their desire. It is interesting that Valentine’s Day falls in Aquarian territory, an energy born in the nervous/mental system, that is more impersonal, not particularly romantic, nor that interested in one to one relationship, except as they relate to the exchange of ideas, the good of the group. It is more about the love of friends… no small love.

Revolutionaries of the Zodiac  Aquarius is primarily concerned with expanding intellectual qualities. As ‘water bearers,’ they enthuse the waters of enlightenment, the electric watery waves of hope for mankind to grow in wisdom.  Ruled by the planet Uranus, Aquarians deal with inner revolution, desires for freedom, and the polarity of chaos and artistry.

Aquarius sits across the zodiac from Leo, the fixed fire sign of the heart.  The Leo personal and passionate love vs the Uranian ruled objective, dispassionate, need for friendship.  We need both.  We need to balance their extremes in our charts and lives.
