August 17-21 Love-Right Old Wrongs

If Yoga is about creating inner space and balance for the body/mind, then Astrology is about informing us when we might optimally do this….like now. We open to another quiet haven this week, a sweeter time-out, perfect for opening up, balancing, and putting old wrongs to right, especially ~‘love-right.’ Different aspects of our psyche have been under assault much of this year. Yoga instructs us how to breathe, and sit with the divine to better maneuver the road ahead. Astrological instruction adds that now, before moving forward, pay attention to healing the past. With Venus remaining retrograde until Sept. 6, use summer’s Yoga and Astrology to rethink and recalculate where deeper value and trust can grow; what yet needs our contemplative, non-judging eye so that come September, we move forward with an expanded power to trust in greater risk ~ greater love.

The early part of the week is calmer than the latter, as Mercury, and Jupiter sit in the earth and mental energy of Virgo. Tuesday, the Moon moves to Libra where a balancing energy asks we strategically, as well as beautifully prepare emotions for Saturday’s First Quarter Moon, which has a kick to it. Remember that First Quarter energies are about ‘crises of action.’ (Crises from the Greek crino~ meaning to decide.) Engage muscle and mind to kick-start seedlings born at the New Moon. This requires organization and push. We will practice contemplating how best to move forward by conscious choices we make on the mat. Virgo, unlike Leo, is not about the show, but the refinement, and the use of a quiet, decisive power. Decide to engage consciously in linking breath, intention, and joy. Decide to try a difficult pose like Akarna Dhanurasana ~ dailybreathjournal.com/Yoga/PosesIf you don’t have the energy, and would rather contemplate your navel, sit in Agnistambhasana/Fire Log.

Last week, I promised notes on Jupiter’s move into earthy Virgo. On August 11, the great gas bag unhappily left the bright and shiny fire of Leo, to move through Virgo’s detailed diet plan for the next 12 months. You will become more aware of this ‘refining’ energy shift socially and politically, especially with elections on the horizon. Jupiter’s hopeful ebullience does not express well in Virgo, for this is an archetype emphasizing detail, analysis, perfection, and martyrdom. Jupiterian expansiveness cares nothing for these, appreciating more the exaggeration, and enhancement of events. On Aug. 23, The Sun moves into Virgo where it can work in tandem with Jupiter, hopefully creating practical solutions to earth’s many issues. May your New Moon seeds be rooting down to produce your heart’s desire. May your life become your art. And to paraphrase Oscar Wide, … “Set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.”
