It’s the Relationship, Stupid!      March 26-April 3

Spring’s first Full Moon on March 31, offers fire and earth as primary elements.  This is a big change from the Pisces waters we’ve been paddling in.  The Sun, Mercury, and Uranus are alight in Aires.  Color us red as we march to be bold, impetuous, and creative. For good, or ill, this impetuous fire will feel dampened by the earthy, Capricorn trilogy of Mars, Saturn, and Pluto holding hands, which says, “whoa slow up.”  Aires boldness is sat upon and asked to be correct, with no sudden moves.  Mars, ruler of Aires, in bed with Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, and both accelerating toward Pluto, force serious braking to any fiery drive!

Added to the contrapuntal fire and earth square-off, you have Mercury in its Retrograde motion.  Voila! There are many rights to confusion, with feelings of being tested, and navigationally challenged.  Despite leaping through Spring Equinox gates, there is a call to slow down and reconsider ‘the leap.’  Saturn, during its long stay in Capricorn, is demanding we check our motivations and goals, and that we clarify commitments.  Do they have long term value? Will they lead to achievement?  Saturn is the wise elder. Mars represents young masculine energy.  Together, in Capricorn, they wish to plant formidable seeds of an important future. Do not treat this time lightly, as it offers a strong platform from which to begin new life.

All Full Moons reveal, and amplify relationships, as masculine and feminine face off in the heavens. This Full Moon is particularly potent for rebalancing our masculine force with our feminine values. The Mars and Saturn square to this lunar polarity will force attention to considering, or forging new relationships, questioning well-worn ones, and struggling with the balance between self and other.  Who has authority? (Capricorn).  Who is in control? (Saturn).  Who is willing to fight for their rights? (Mars).

Adding even greater emphasis to re-evaluating relationships, Venus, mistress of partnering, value, love, and self-worth has just moved into Taurus, where she expresses powerfully, and reminds us that all relationships begin with self-love.  The only difficulty with sweet Venus in Taurus is she backs into Uranus in Aires, a destabilizing, freedom-loving, explosive force for change.  Ergo, this is an opportune time to re-shape, and hone just what and who is worthwhile, allowing what is destructive to die.  It is a time to value those who offer us ease and care, and to value the process of creating strong relationships.  We can’t get ‘there’ alone. Decide who you’re marching with.

On the Mat: This week is surely a week to howl and jump your Practice.  Find ways and means to take it to another level as you partner yourself beautifully on the mat.  Strengthen, with resilience, as you move toward long term goals you wish to conquer.  Re-consider what has stopped you in the past, re-define, and find ways to work differently with old difficulties.  Harness Capricorn’s strength, and discipline, and persistence to invigorate your Full Moon light.  Dance with your devils!  Dance with your Light.

This Week’s Birthdays:  Despite feeling a té pessimistic, consider the joys of optimism!  Time to choose.  Pay attention to the steps needed for you to achieve long-considered goals,  AND who you wish to achieve them with! Communication is key. You are an achiever, and as such, it’s time to stake out strategic plans, understand your true motivations, and honor your life-experiences as you forge the new dream.

Wed. April 4- Advanced Techniques, 9 am-1:30 pm, The studio at One Edson in Natick. This seminar explores seated poses, with added layers of Pranayama and focus on the bandhas. Discussion and Practice of relationships in alignment & anatomy; Effective connective links between specific poses.  It is an opportunity to break boundaries, to teach and share knowledge.
