LOOK HOMEWARD ANGEL*   July 8-16

THEMES                                                                                                                                                    A time of deep emotional clearing and regeneration of old family wounds and dynamics. Thursday’s Solar Eclipse in Cancer opposes Pluto, making for transformative power struggles. Surrendering makes way for the new.

Continue to expect the wildly unpredictable and unexpected. Retrograde Mars not only heats the planet as he cruises ever closer to earth, but he squares off against Uranus. Any relationship between these two always creates instability and chaos.

The sturm und drang is balanced by two trines of flow and ease, assisting our passage through Scylla and Charbydis. (These two were mythical sea monsters in Homer. He had to choose which monster to confront to pass through the Strait of Medina. They are symbolic of being between a rock and a hard place.)

THE STORY                                                                                                                                            Cancer’s Moon is a big player these days, supporting us to move deeply into the emotional matrix of our lives. What has not been addressed from past family hurts and misunderstandings will reveal its festering hold, and likely implode under the force of the New Moon Eclipse on Thursday, 12th. Look homeward angel, not in anger, but with resolve to absolve self and others of the complexity of wrongs, debt, and un-forgiven story. If not, old wounds fester, creating cancerous sores that eat away at the heart of life.

Sign of tribe, country, and emotion, Cancer tends to be an energy of nurturing, intuition, and worry. When threatened, it inclines toward withdrawal, then defends fiercely. Think mama bear. This is a time to re-weave your family history as you would have wished it. Bless the past, and the transformational power you have grown from difficult times. Take out your golden scissors and cut the Gordian Knots of what feels ‘fated.’ Yes, there is fate that is fateful, but there is also fate to be challenged and re-made. You grew muscle to do just that. It’s time to choose. We can’t outrun our past. We are it. But courage and kindness create new and greater possibility.

Providing a soft flowing touch to all the emotional heave-ho, are two grand trines that connect the interior, offering emotional support and grounding. They provide links encouraging meditation, journaling, and creativity. Outwardly, they support practical action to get the inner work into the world. With the profoundly transformational energy that abounds this week, do take advantage of changing your life. ’You were born for these times,’ as Clarissa Pinkola Estes wrote. She must be a Cancer, for her words provide GPS guidance. “The fierce and loving Blessed Mother who is friendly, but never tame~she who flies to our aid when the road is long and our hearts are broken, ever ready to rekindle the inner fire of our creative souls.”

THIS WEEK’S BIRTHDAY’S: Welcome to a new life, birthday babees. You are working deep into your transformational selves to give birth to someone new. Some part of you has been wanting greater voice, more freedom, sweeter peace, higher expectations. Listen, and honor those desires. Take time to walk in the woods, along a beach, onto a mountain. Feel Ma Nature is part of your own bone and tendon. Breathe into your heart, connect to your gut for guidance. Come home to your true nature.

Astrological Consultations:   It’s always a good time to look at one’s life from an objective, non-judgmental ‘soul point of view.’ This is especially helpful when dust flies and the future looks unfamiliar. If you are asking, “What is my genius, and how do I wish to use it?  How can I move deeply into my healing? When do I make moves for success?”  Then let us swim in your life together, in wonderful discovery.  Email  samcatcam@gmail.com

PRACTICE NOTES: Be on a Yin- mat mindful gentle offerings. Creating your own, nurturing Practice, listening to Self, rather than others. The more emotionally demanding your life feels, the greater the need to sit in silence, or chant and sing. What brings you home to Self? (breathing) What supports your ability to change your POV? (going upside down.) What brings joyful satisfaction? (Asanas with favorite music.) Take a special time out on Thurs. 12th to listen to your heart beat.
