Today, I write a different story than the one I began for this week. Oddly, synchronistically, and sadly, the two converge in the burning of beautiful Notre Dame.

THEMES
Cultural, political, theological structures and people, representing the past, are breaking down/burning down. With hope, the devastation and dismantling bring us together to rebuild and renew. The pain of loss is the gateway to healing. (Saturn & Pluto in Capricorn. This is 2019’s big theme.)
If I remember my history, Notre Dame was originally built on the ruin of a Roman temple dedicated to Jupiter/Zeus. Jupiter turned Retrograde, bringing it closest to earth, in fiery Sagittarius, igniting a trine to the Sun in fiery Aires, making their liaison very hot indeed. (The Sun, exalted in Aires, connected to Pluto adds a fated quality. The death of an old identity, ashes of a powerful representative ego-structure.)
To offer more light to a world in crises, this Friday’s Super Full Moon, in Libra/Aires is at the critical 29 degree, follows the previous Full Moon of March 20, in the same Libra/Aires polarity! That one was also at a ‘critical degree,’ but of 00. Critical degrees are considered tippy, unpredictable, and often ignite beginnings and endings of import. This Aires/Libra journey is a message of self and other. The heavens are saying, “Pay attention to wiser relationships in order to survive.”
THE STORY
Fires of destruction, ruined relationships, and loss rise everywhere, not just France. Our due process of law, and constitutional precedence, with civility, relationships, and humor are turning to ash fueled by fires of fear and anger. Perhaps the world could not hold any more of our hatred and greed? Did we reached a tipping point, and the implosion was Notre Dame? Is her fire the angelic force-field crying out, “Enough!”
The timing, from planetary and mundane viewpoints, is striking. Notre Dame in flames, like the release of Barr’s redacted Mueller report delivered on the eve of Passover and Easter, speak of tremendous losses; of spirit and governance. They are felt all the more as we turn to rituals of new life through prayer and meditation, family and forgiveness. Notre Dame’s spires flamed at the moment Macron was to give his do or die speech, his last ditch effort to unite France. Many symbolic layers burst into flame in her exquisite towers. Be we Catholic, or non, this ‘Grande Dame’ filled the world with a formidable delicacy and power of spirit. You could not enter her doors and be left untouched. Dedicated to the passion of the feminine, and destroyed in heated passion, her Shakti power remains.
Greatness of spirit never dies. It transforms. It lives on in the eye of the heart, leading those who are of spirit to conspire and rise anew. The form is different, but energy remains. Notre Dame’s beauty, like her spiritual essence is indomitable, for she was built from the passion of spirit, dedicated to the wisdom of the feminine. As she is re-built, may she guide the world to rebuild from feminine wisdom and compassion. It is not only France who suffers this iconic loss. All great treasures are gifts of and for the world. They are the riches of humanity’s imaginative creativity. The loss is everyone’s loss. “Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.” (Hemingway)

YOUR PRACTICE: Move into as many heart-opening poses you can imagine 1. Begin slowly, standing in Tadasasna with arms behind, simply opening the chest. If you wish press palms together behind the back in Samhistiti. Close your eyes and imagine you see through the eye of the heart. 2. Come to your knees for Ustrasana/Camel Pose, press hands onto back hips, or reach for heels, lifting hips, press the heart up and open. 3. Then stand to lift into Natarajasana/ Dancer’s Pose, rise higher and wider by holding the polarity of foot to heart. 4. On the floor, lift arms, chest and legs up into Salabhasana/Locust Pose or Easy cobra. 5. On your back, bring feet to buttocks, lift chest into Setu Bandha Sarvangasana/Bridge Pose. 6. For beautiful closure move to Urdhva Dhanurasana/Wheel Pose. Remember- any pose can be a heart-opener with intention.
YOUR BIRTHDAY WEEK: My birthday wish for you is to be ignited by the passion of your life, and to find ways and means to dedicate yourself to that passion(s). With the intensity of the Aires/Libra Full Moon at closing critical 29 degree, I can promise that much of this year will be about relationships- of every form and style. You will learn to see yourself through other’s eyes, and come home to yourself differently because of that. Don’t let anxieties keep you from being vulnerable, and reaching out past old limitations. You have formidable, regenerative powers present. Use them! Fill your cake with candles and blow hard!
