The Divine Mother And her Transformative Consort

The New Moon this week continues the focus from last on issues of: sensitivity, nourishment, safety, home, security, foundation, and family. You’d think all the Cancer energy would open a gentle cycle~but no.  It’s dicey and complicated. Maintaining the emotional body to remain centered and present, despite turmoil, is our job. This New Moon opens the second half of July to a time of fertility and volatility.  Everything is colored by emotion. Not just la-di-da garden variety feelings, but deep, powerful undercurrents and riptides sway everything.  You may have difficulty being objective

The week builds to Wednesday’s New Moon, with Mars and Mercury along with Sun and Moon all in watery, uber-sensitive Cancer, with Mercury and Mars opposing Pluto.  These personal planets, Mars~our action and commitment, and Mercury~our thinking and communication, are in a stand off with the Goddess of the Underworld.  It is not only a minefield of profound emotion and hurt feelings, but defensiveness, power plays and strategic skullduggery.  The positive aspect is, with effort we can create awareness for transformative healing, especially of old, buried wounds.

Another piece of the week’s complex struggle is a Venus ~Saturn square which tests relationships, along with questions of self worth.  We want to trust, we want to love, but is it safe?  What is the reality of relationships?  It’s hoped that understanding, greater intuition, and healing are part of this New Moon cycle, and that we are learning to swim in deep waters with angelic water-wings.

Because the Moon rules the stomach in the physical body, and the Moon is stressed at this time, be aware that with all the Cancer energy, stomachs and digestion can be upset.  To learn more:  Go to dailybreathjournal.com,  hit wellness then go to Indigestion/Digestion for a comprehensive run down of helpful hints for stomach upset including:, poses, basic Ayurvedic tips, plus a helpful book list.

My classes this week focus on long stretches, rejuvenating poses, and Pranayama for inner balancing.  We use the mat to grow observational as we grow long.  We shall practice with a kumbaka breath; full inhale with a pause, and full exhale with a pause.  This offers the body time to be present. If struggling with relationships, consider sitting in Ganesh Mudra, that is with fingers clasped at the heart, right hand facing out, left hand ~in.  Gently pull the elbows apart.  Breathe into the heart and objectively observe the issues of your struggle.  Ask for understanding and healing.
