The Misshapen Heart

There is an astrological signature for the place in each of us where we are most wounded, and where ultimately we do our greatest healing, and teaching. It is the placement o an Asteroid called ‘Chiron,’ named for the Greek God who was blacksmith, teacher, and healer to the Gods, and their offspring on Mt Olympus.

I am reminded of Chiron through my Yoga Practice, for it surfaces in poses that fmost rustrate me, and where my body feels inept/misshapen. Ultimately these are the Asanas offering the greatest knowledge, and profound understanding not only of my body but my attitude toward it. In my growing consciousness healing begins.

The ‘Chironic wound’ is a reminder not only of what we think we don’t do well, but where we hold back, where we allow fear to squelch effort, then disdain ourselves for taking the risk. Psychologically, it is the interior space where we cannot, or do not support ourselves, selling our talents short, diminishing our true gifts, or worse, not even recognizing them.

Just as our Practice over time opens consciousness, and elevates desire, Chiron’s healing comes through the same practice of awareness, loving kindness, forgiveness. In both, the deep bell tones of a well lived life emerge out of rock-hard struggles. The Chironic wound often appears as the ‘Zen-Master:’ The unfair boss who drives you crazy, the lover who abandons you, the child who flagrantly disobeys. Each of these demonic conflicts has something important to tell us/teach us, then heal us.

Are we listening? Are we willing to bring our ‘misshapen hearts’ into light?

Asanas: Natarajasana or Lord of the Dance. Begin in Tadasana, and move onto the R foot, (lift R knee cap, and draw thigh deep into hip joint.) bending L knee, raise the leg behind you. Rotate L arm out, bend at the elbow, reach back, and hold outside of foot. Press L hamstrings backward, drop pelvis down to lengthen lower back, lift belly. If you can, swing L elbow around and up to point toward ceiling, then reach the R arm back to hold L foot in same fashion. Keep drishti strong, do 5-12 breaths, repeat on other side.

Once mastered, this is a wonderful pose to dance within the’ inept and misshapen’ bringing them to healing and wholeness. It is difficult to stand majestically in ‘Dancer’ and not feel beautiful, and fulfilled….Opening the heart does that.

Astrology and Yoga of Transformation

  • Feeling the push to speed up and go faster? Don’t bypass opportunities to access your inner authority, or to grow moment to moment consciousness.

The speed requires we slow down, and access the inner compass before passing judgment, or taking action.

  • Your body is talking to you. Listen. Don’t let your brain tell you that what you are feeling is inconsequential. With the vast field of planetary activity, our electro-magnetic fields, and brain waves are disturbed; there are more cosmic rays getting through the ionosphere.* (The layer of the earth’s atmosphere that contains a high concentration of ions and free electrons and is able to reflect radio waves. It lies above the mesosphere and extends from about 50 to 600 miles (80 to 1,000 km) above the earth’s surface.)

The remainder of September hands us from from energetic event, to event, opening yet more doors to clarifying intentions, asking for expanded feminine power, and the ever present, “Release the past.” From the Pisces Full Moon, of 14th, we embrace Saturn going direct on the 18. Because of his conjunction to the South Node, issues, memories, and pressure rise from the past. This makes Saturn’s issues of timing, and karma grow more visible. The third Jupiter/Neptune square moves into force, just before the Fall Equinox on the 24th, when once again the earth pauses in perfect balance, before slip-sliding into shorter days. We may be grateful at this Equinox to have Saturn, old man of structure, essentials and hard work supporting the dark-slide down.

You don’t have to know what each of these planetary events mean, but you will feel them! You are likely to be more tired, spacey, and possibly depressed, as an old self within, floats away. An old memory assails the present. Some may have heart palpitations, or unexpected emotional outbursts. Once again I write, ‘take care of yourselves: more rest, more water, more laughter, more long breaths, more walks in the wood, by the sea, in the mountains!’

Despite the complexity, and difficulty, created by so much energetic action, we hopefully move self, and the world toward greater cooperation, and effective manifestation?  The Jupiter/Neptune square that has hovered through 2019, offers a last thrust of energy on the 21sst. Jupiter and Neptune raise spirit hackles, often through disillusionment, confusion, unidentified illness, or becoming the victim. Jupiter confers motivation and desire for grandiosity. When used well, his fire can motivate Neptune’s enlightening resources to expand faith, and recalibrate frequencies. In the mundane world, you’ve seen enormous flooding, not only here, but abroad. This is all Neptunian tears. You have also noticed an uptick in legal wrangling, this is Jupiter’s role as judge, and jury.

Despite the tears and confusion, stay tuned to your heart, your third eye, and your loved ones. These are the GPS for survival!

BIRTHDAY BODIES THIS WEEK: As a Virgo craftsman, of style and refined savvy, you may observe that your radar is turning more toward what you love, than what you should do, or what you know all too well. The Pisces Full Moon set your heart a flutter. Saturn turning direct is an all systems signal for, “Go, my child and accomplish!” The Jupiter/Neptune square asks you to be very clear about your goals. Don’t leap in unless very prepared! Ask, “Does this goal hold my heart?” This year could send you out, if not a mission, then ‘the road not taken.’ Empowet self!

If it’s time to look at your life and consider change~ Email    “It was so wonderful to talk with you – so interesting (and comforting:) to gain an understanding of how I relate with the universe, and it’s impact – past, present, and future.  Thank you!  So grateful to have met you, and look forward to seeing you soon!” Leah C.

YOUR PRACTICE THIS WEEK: One does not correlate Virgo energies with power, but this week, work poses not only with greater clarity and definition, but muscle…refined muscle, of course. Crafting Virgo-fashion means, meticulously. Proceed with intention to sustain poses infused with breath, and healing. As always, focus on entry and exit of each asana so that when you are in the body of the pose, you totally inhabit your body. Don’t get distracted by the next pose, or the attractive body on the next mat. Be dedicated to calling spiritual time. Make it more beautiful, in deep silence, or with music you love. Share it with people you love. No time like present time to elevate your frequency, and there are few places better than ‘on the mat!’
