Shakti Dances
Music, dance, and poetry are magical conjurers capable of building enchantment. They have carried us through uncertain times for centuries. As celebratory guardians of a great Universe, layered in unseen energies, we express life through sound, song, poetry, and dance, transmitting spiritual desire into mundane expression, and back again. Science has proven what the ancients knew, that in harnessing rhythms in the cosmos, we harness power to heal and transform the old.
What is new, is the linking of Yoga’s ancient poses to specific music, mudra, poetry and chant. Like all else connecting us with the heart, Shakti Dance has an ability to set feelings free. Each seasonal Dance is a mood piece, layered from knowledge of planetary energies, Pranayama, Ayurveda Dosha balancing, and mudras. As ritual, these dances interconnect subtle body layers. They are created from understanding the energies in a season, therefore they connect the body to earth’s cycles. Through celebration and ritual we move into the heart of spirit, we move into Shakti Dance, physical means to powerful inner experiences. Yoga-technique becomes Yoga-life.
“Of what is the body made? It is made of emptiness and rhythm. At the heart of the world there is no solidarity, there is only dance.” - The Silent Pulse, by George Leonard, a scientific mystic

What is Shakti’ ? She is a primordial creative energy. It is the inherent feminine motivation transforming the Universe. Her life giving prana forges intimate connection within the Self, through the dance, from the song, in the moment. As with tantric practices, energy is coaxed from the base of the spine to move through the asanas, connecting the dancer to their energy force, awakening transformative powers within.
