It’s the layers of life, like a deliciously multi-layered cake, that offer creatively delectable sustenance….and November offers multiple layers of energetic possibility and integration for cake-work. Consider calibrating your intention and approach. What worked before may not work well this time, or in the same way. Pay attention to alignments of movement and thought as you go for what you love. Trust your intuition and heart. Your cake will be very delicioso!!
Gaia In November
Gaia lays herself to rest
Squeezing out last Fall tasks
To sigh relief at early dusk.
Dropping gilded weight of tumbled leaves
Releasing corsets of color and bespoke dreams,
~Last flaunting’s of a year near gone,
She retreats under her aubergine eiderdown.
The North Wind blows in
Preparing snowy slumber and sweet death
So she may return to Self once again~
An old woman who loved
Each day extravagantly
To create her November light
Of purpled radiance
Revealing bones of stark beauty.
We enter the growing dark of November in a blaze of New England color, tapestries of fleeting life. Each seasonal turning brings threshold shifts, gifts, and sustenance, times when we turn to contemplate new doors and honor what is done. When we are wise, these can be gateways offering new territory. When we are tired and depressed, we can overbake the cake. The shifts this year have been daunting and demanding, certainly more emotional as we struggle with the destruction of what we have understood, known and loved.
Pulling on coats, heading into the cold, some to celebrate the spirit of Samhain, some to gather candy. Either way -they are festivals of celebration, and we need to celebrate! We need daily ritual to transform habits to higher levels, to re-dedicate life pushed off the beaten path. The planetary cosmic overlay is not only producing hurricanes and storms, devasting beloved landscapes and lives, but pummeling the emotional body into overdrive, into changing inner landscapes. Due to the re-activation of a powerful Grand Water Trine that asks the body to detox, surrender, and heal, we are awash and ungrounded. If you are fortunate, there is opportunity for soul level work. This requires a courageous dive into subconscious layers to arrive at unseen conclusions and hoped for intention. Pause and consider darkness not as an ending, rather a gift for beginning, for expanding within, opening a vision of guidance to begin again with updated trust and wisdom.
Along with emotions tides, we are influenced by oppositions to Uranus, that wild and wooly chaotic God of high mind. This undoubtedly adds to emotional shifts as we are caught in surprise and unexpected demands to transcend the old. On Nov. 4th, Mars, God of energy, action and anger, moves into his opposition to Uranus in Gemini, from fiery Sagittarius. The Gemini/Sagittarius opposition highlights brain and thinking matter. It is demanding, fast, and explorative. It is also low mind VS High mind and how they might inform one another to discuss and ruminate in lively dialogue. Because it’s very bold and quick, plan new ways you might use this ‘can-do energy when it suddenly appears.’ If nothing else, it will pull us from our watery depths and dopey demeanor. This fire-spike lines up with the Full Moon in Taurus on the 5th, offering visionary possibilities. Time to listen to the body’s instinctive intelligence as we may possibly feel ‘electrified.’
This Super Moon, meaning closer to earth-making its energies more available, offers possibilities for hard work to pay off and dreams to materialize. As we surrender this year’s harvest, we may surprising rewards. Remember Taurus is ruled by Venus, a goddess of nourishment and grounded physicality who is presently traveling through Libra, another sign she rules. Under her incandescent lunar value we partner with greater possibilities. Her energy shifts when she moves into the depths of watery Scorpio on the 7th, and squares Scorpio’s ruler Pluto, creating greater passion, power and desires for intimacy with self as well as others. We shall feel the move from challenges of a highly wired mind into a depth charge for the heart. This is a very a large dive asking we look below the surface to note what is unseen but power-motivated. Venus will also square Jupiter, the great rolly-polly God of abundance. This square holds potential tension for creativity, and ‘feminine/Venus benefits.’ Listening and observing are ways we attend the feminine. When over-stimulated, slow it down, stop, listen to the body’s instinctive grace.

On the 8th and 9th Retrograde energies push us back to take care of lose ends and possibly design ‘full circle ideas.’ Uranus retreats from his temporary Gemini visit back into Taurus on the 8th. Take a moment to assess what his high-minded energies have changed in your Taurus-household since 2016-2019! Journal your ‘awakenings,’ and the Taurus journeys of security and stability, love and body-wisdom you have explored during this time. In 2026 he moves his chaotic, expansive mind back into Gemini for coming years where we once again leap into new territory, learning to trust a Gemini-Persona.
On November 9th, Mercury goes Retrograde! Oh the joy of the final Mercury Rx of ’25! It feels the whole year has been ass-backward and confused, so these three weeks of Mercury showing us who is boss will likely not feel terribly confusing? Mercury, presently in Sagittarius, returns to Scorpio where he is bound to stir up dramas of miscommunication, power-over issues, and sexy denials. As you know by now, back everything up, review upcoming plans, keep it simple and clear. Retrogrades of any planet are helpful for revision, to sort out the past, and move on with greater wisdom and clarity.
