Review of March energy influences
Between the Spring Equinox on 3/20 and the Libra Full Moon on 4/5, primary planetary energies have shifted and changed course, turning our world in different directions. March promised to be the highlighted, watershed month of 2023, and indeed it is fulfilling its promise. Can you feel it? Has your body tingled with unidentified change? Has your mind gone on a sabbatical trying to understand the fabric and flow of what once was static? Have you seen old political enemies shaking hands to become ‘frenemies’? Have you watched California’s desert become a lake? Or the south be consumed by tornados? Can your imagination grasp the potential and power of EI- the useful servant but the frightening master? Access to fusion energy? Hold on to your imaginative intelligence as the world turns on its evolutionary axis. The boundaries of the old brain are crumbling. Visualize and imagine what you wish to see/do/become.
A simple review of a few March energy shifts helps us understand why we are muddled and/or on high alert.
We had the Spring Equinox, cracking open the earth’s magnetic field. “The pineal gland, regulating melatonin and serotonin levels is sensitive to magnetic field changes. ….. On a metaphysical level, the pineal gland is our spiritual GPS, orienting us in time, space, and dimension. Its sensitivity to light and magnetic changes modulates our perception of reality.” Stephanie Austin, Astrologer.
Doubling up the Equinox energy was Venus embracing the North Node saying, “This is the way forward through the incoming three months; Beauty, love, value, and creativity are Venusian calling cards.”
Immediately following, on the 21st, we had the Super New Moon in Aires, the first sign in the zodiac. Here is the warrior, who asks for courage, Beginner’s Mind, independence, and commitment. Not only were Sun and Moon re-birthing in this fiery, ‘me first’ energy, but so were Mercury, (the mind) Jupiter (the larger mind & perspective), and Chiron, (the wounded healer.). All this Arian energy put a premium on the upcoming 28 days to start fresh, imagine new forms and ideas rising, make clean breaks with the past, and listening to our intuition, our instinctive, spiritual Self. Plus, any and all Super Moons increase disturbance of tides, tectonic plates, and nervous systems.
On the 23rd, Pluto entered Aquarius, tentatively beginning its 20-year journey in a totally different energy than the earthy Capricorn it previously worked through and transformed. This year, we shift from, masculine, practical, top-down energy into Aquarius’ iconoclastic air element where we begin to grow from the ground up, VS top down. Freedom beckons, demanding individual expression, possible revolution, and a great sisterhood/brotherhood of unity. Plutonian energies signify unconscious currents, needs, and taboos. Pluto’s job is to reveal because the more unconscious a person is, the more dangerous their life is, for self as well as others. Much of his work remains hidden, like gold buried in the earth, until uncovered and worked with for transformation. Much of what Pluto did while in Capricorn will not be understood for several years as he does not fully move into Aquarius until 11/19/24. In the back-and-forth retrogrades between now and then, observe tastes and new flavors of Aquarian possibility.
Less influential in the long run, but far more personal is Mars moving into watery Cancer on the 25th and contacting his older brother, Pluto, in the move. Mars also squared the New Moon making his exuberant energy part of the birthing process, influencing the entire 28-day lunar cycle. Mars and Pluto energies can be strong-armed bullies of the zodiac, but with Mars now in tender, intuitive Cancer until May 20, our responses will be more deeply emotional. This ‘Crab’ is the signature of mom, home, nurturing, and feeling. Mars, as the warrior, often stirs up old, hidden family wounds. We tend to react irrationally, without thinking, so take the pause that refreshes before blasting your someone special with warrior heat. Again, take time to listen to the quiet intuitive voice, and hold ‘Beginner’s Mind.’
This month’s shifts in consciousness are forerunners of the new era we enter. Yes, it’s confusing, often fearful, and sans doute weird, but listen to the heart. It never fails to do the right thing, to heal and lead us on in the highest direction. If you are overwhelmed by the unknown, and who isn’t? Open your heart, like opening pages of your favorite book, and read the preface of directions and intention. Then after reading the old beloved story, take out an elegant nibbed ink pen and begin writing your new story of joy and gladness.

YOUR PRACTICE THIS WEEK: Embrace the confusion for out of it grows creative ideas. Hold hands with the unseen world. Do whatever Practices that support your intuitive growth. With the Aires New Moon still directing energy, be bold, and courageous, try new things, and let go of fears. Organize Practices with friends, as Venus also has a leadership role in our plans. Listen to music as you find ways to feel beautifully transformative, and turn your lemons into lemon cookies, cakes, and dazzling lemonade.

BIRTHDAYS THIS WEEK: This week the Sun, our identity and ego, is embracing Chiron, the wounded healer. This asks you to pay attention to how you are caring for self. With Chiron as well as Pluto -in the first degree of Aquarius, time to think outside the box as you regenerate. Seek and discover new Practices and venues that bring greater joy and peace, especially after the high-wire tension that has provoked much of March. Pluto seeks an inner, transformative way of self-healing. Call your courage and unveil old shadow material in order to set yourself free this year! It’s going to be a year you will not forget!!
