Hephaestus, fashion me as a summer’s rose
That fears not winter.
Guild my thorns fine as Aladdin’s scimitar,
Matching the inner lip of the Crescent Moon.
Curve my petals not as an artist creates dreams,
Rather as You, my artisan,
Soft-hammers gold into rabbit bites of love.
Mold me from the white heat of this day
Allowing butter-petals to slide off
In surrender to this glory
Gratefully, at vesper light.
Wisdom Body Notes for July 24-30th by Samantha Cameron
If ever there was a time to be fashioned by Hephaestus* or become ‘Hephaestion’ -tis now, under this powerful Leo New Moon. If we learn from Hephaestus it is to know that however insurmountable the task, we have the power to make something beautiful out of it. Our world is making a quantum leap into a new era, and to do that, the old world must be destroyed so we may create from the heart-for all, not for a few privileged few.
Under this Leo re-birth we are setting sail upon high seas, filling our sails with courage so we might listen and obey the heart as never before. We are to create new paradigms for self and other.
We are to be joyous, no matter what. We are to own our agency- as Queen or King. We are to catalyze what dreams may come. We are to be true to Soul-Self and help others to do the same. We are to listen with big ears to intuition, as well as one another. We are to stand strong in our courage. Yes, a big assignment but we are up to it, especially as we presently have five planets, and two important asteroids in ‘don’t stop me now-fire.’ Clearly, time to make plans to kick some ass. There’s more help from three planets in air signs, provoking us to be open minded, exchange ideas, and consider alternative action as we ask the important questions.
A deeper area of cosmic support is the fact we are in ‘Retrograde season, with multiple planets heading inward and backward. Frustrating as this can be, it may save us from unprepared fiery leaping and reacting. As you know, retrogrades help us pause and re-set. They are here to clear out the used up and old, especially over-used fear-filled habits. Retrogrades help move us through the overwhelming feelings of being lost in this paradigm shift as we struggle to move on into unknown territory. Hitting the pause button over and over builds muscle for receptivity, wisdom and development of the new, at more artistic levels- very Hephaestian!
Lines of energy to this New Moon include its potent opposition to Pluto, god of the transformative underworld, and an ‘electic trine’ to Saturn and Neptune, embraced in the early degrees of Aires. These two in cahoots support listening to dreams/Neptune, and acting on them/Saturn. The opposition to Pluto spotlights how and where we might deal with fear, right use of power and shadow material. Leo energies rise in flame. Pluto energies sink deep into hidden watery emotion. With diligence, we can work on ancient childhood wounds to change our perspective, our destructive habits of telling ourselves we are not good enough. Leo, as Queen of hearts, says “To thine own self be true.” And that is not only good enough- it leads to greatness!
During the three weeks of Mercury’s Rx, in Leo, (7/18-8/11) listen closely to your heart’s desires. Ferrit out and fire what blocks the heart from love and acceptance. As this is a personal planet, ruling lower mind (not less mind) of daily ideas, learning and conversations, while in Rx in Leo he is in daily conversations with the heart, with our courage, or lack thereof. This is such a sympathetic time to cross thresholds that have intimidated, or kept us from our inner knowing.
Every New Moon is a threshold, a door into the unknown, with the energetic information we need to cross that threshold. I’m reminded of the word, ‘dervish’ which means doorway or entry. The The scholar, Neil Douglas-Klotz, describes Sufism “As a way of experiencing reality as love itself.” He also describes how light represents inner knowing, and that which is dark is simply what we don’t know yet. During New Moon thresholds we are in the dark, demanding that our intention and information bake within before we eat or offer the cake. Consciousness creates our world. Intention infuses it with life. Heart-work grows our reality. Choice reflects that work. It’s time to believe in your gifts and unveil their power. In the confusion and loss of this massive shifting of the ages. Remain true to what the heart longs to sing.
* Hephaestus was a Greek god -beloved of blacksmiths, artisans, and metal workers. In Roman mythology, he is known as Vulcan. The true importance of Hephaestus is that he was so deformed and ugly that no one loved him. Out of this great wounding he fashioned the most exquisite works of art, becoming loved and honored for his exquisite creations.
