MAGIC FOR THE ASKING

Wisdom Body notes for July 9-19 by Samantha Cameron

Sometimes Astrology rises into magical manifestations from a synchronistic planetary pattern that affects the world.  More often we use it pragmatically, as in when personally to begin a new direction, how best to engage and integrate difficult energies to make hard decisions. Timing is one of Astrology’s great tools, offering practical awareness of when to best engage, or unfold intention. It can be an objective, ‘savvy tool’ teaching us how and when to ‘hold em and when to fold ’em.’ 

A perfect example of this is knowing when planets turn retrograde which informs us of what and how to slow down, dive within, grow more patient, or stubborn enough to do it again.  You know what Mercury Rx does, each time its three times a year/three-week period blows in to bring greater awareness to our thoughts and words.  Despite the frustration of technology not working as planned, transportation breaking down, and/or being misunderstood, consider it a time of sustenance to grow more thoughtful ideas, to take time and heal what has been wounded by miscommunication, and/or poor timing.  All retrograde -Rx- periods, by all planets, offer their own particular deep diving energies in support of living life from a greater consciousness and Grace.

Before we move off the retrograde information, know that the outer planet of spirit, creativity, and confusion just turned Rx in Aires on 7/7.  We are very much under its ‘station’ or stopping point, making the planetary energies very powerful.  If you have been feeling a bit dazed, and glazed, dreaming like a madman, have thoughts of joining a monastery, or fixated on creating a new artistic expression~ that’s why.  Neptune in Aires is an elixir of fire and water, which as you know can be very steamy, and at odds with itself.  As this Old Man of the Sea is a slow outer planet, he remains retrograde until Dec. 11.

Now to the magic promised!  July holds an odd alignment in the sky resembling a basket, created by four outer planets, aligned with one another by flowing trine and opportunistic sextiles; Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. It is called Barbault’s Basket whose influence began softly in June and is reported to be so powerful that it extends in peak moments through the year.  Just what is this ‘influence’? Part of its power comes from the planetary structure as a ‘basket’ which can hold and stabilize energy~ a ‘cosmic container’ if you will.  It is a needed gift offering a counterbalance to the intense shifts and destabilization of this ‘changing of an era-year.’  It has been described by several well-known Astrologers as ‘one of the most beautiful configurations of our era.’

Let’s de-construct the players to better understand how each contributes to the whole. The planets involved are giants in our zodiac.  Their movement is slow, profound and transformative. 

1. Jupiter, is closest to earth of the four, and the largest, known as the great gaseous one, offering joy and good fortune.  Called ‘Zeus’ by the Greeks, and known as ‘the messenger of the gods,’ he expands thinking, is known as a teacher and bringer of light. He was considered ‘the founder of society,’ and guardian of the home.  In one’s personal chart, he reveals the nature and development of higher mental development.  He rules the sign Sagittarius.

2. Uranus, first of the modern planets, discovered in 1781 by W. Herschel, is the third largest planet in our solar system and when viewed through a telescope appears as a green-tinted orb.  Like Jupiter, it is a gaseous body mobilizing the higher mind.  It is one of three planets of ‘the higher octave,’ known as the Promethean Messenger.  He offers a metaphysical ‘sixth sense’ of knowing, therefore integrating the intuitive body with the brain.  The Greeks called him “Ouranos, meaning heaven, and those who use his energy well are unconventional, inventive, intuitive, and individualistic.  He is the modern ruler of Aquarius.

3.  Neptune, is a pictograph of a trident, and is known as ‘the old man of the sea,’ with his seas being those of spirit. The three-pronged trident represents an aspect of human consciousness to be purified by Neptune’s divine waters. The Greeks and Romans depicted him as masculine, but his energies contain highly receptive, female principles; Love for one, along with giving, receptivity, and acceptance. Under Neptune’s rule, we are to become ONE, united in spirit and soul.  He is patron of the dance, and music, a muse calling us to unite and become the dance and be the notes.  His is the clairvoyant voice of the mystic.  He rules Pisces.

4. Pluto, ‘the transformer,’ is the smallest and most distant planet, as well as the most mysterious, with rulership over death and power, deep hidden emotion, “influencers,” and big finance.  Astronomers are mystified that his small size emits such enormous power.  Discovered in 1930, he has come to be known as ‘the force of regeneration.’  Think of a snake shedding its skin to be renewed, or autumn leaves falling so spring can grow them again.  In this constant death and release is the awakening of consciousness and evolution. Under his tutelage, we morph, become shaken and awaken to our hidden talents, and higher use of power.  In a natal chart, he shows how and where we break from old bonds, tearing ‘the psychic umbilical cord.’ He rules Scorpio.

You now have a sense of the enormous power-potential lying within Barbault’s Basket, especially as each planet connects to another with the ease of a trine, and/or the opportunity offered by sextiles.  No one is pushing or shoving here.  This is a transformational basket of awakening and support, of creativity and connection, at its most potent July 19-21.  But well in motion from June extending into the year. The most important job we each have is awakening to use the transformative heart of each planet, and make them personally powerful in loving, useful connections to SELF, then one another. We are the basket of potential.  We are the ones holding the mysteries of transformative power. Onward, friends!

Who was André Barbault? “He was a French mundane astrologer who spent five decades studying the relationship between outer planet cycles and major world events. He made actual predictions, with dates, decades in advance. He predicted the fall of the Soviet Union. He predicted the conditions for a major global pandemic to emerge around 2020. In the late stages of his life, Barbault identified a specific planetary configuration forming in mid-July 2026 as a turning point. He described it as the end of a long chaotic cycle and the beginning of a more constructive era. He called it a “very favorable placement for humanity.”  Quoted from Augerine.
