MEMORIAL DAY ~MOIRA & MEMORY

Let us don our white robes of Moira to remember the past; choose those willing to share our fate, then turn to face a new destiny; one more tender, yet gallant, courageous, yet empathetic.

ENERGY THEMES

Begin the beguine! We are prancing new steps, choreographed from the New Moon template. We seek redemption of spirit. We are interacting and responding from multi levels. The need is to balance insanity and reason….within reason.

Stability and social consciousness support some. There is hope for better decisions, for an unknown, more encompassing future. (New Moon trine Saturn in Aquarius)

Compassion, complication, passive aggressive bad behavior, along with clouded, dreamy tendencies may confuse our abilities to take direct action. Intuition counts. Double check your facts before setting out. (Mars in Pisces squared New Moon.)

Unresolved issues and people of the past continue to rise for attention and healing. Big questions might be: Who offers me sustenance, and confirms my value? Who does not? What steps are needed to create a greater sense of security? (Mercury, ruler of New Moon, embraced Retrograde Venus.)

The tumbling changes and sudden openings that arrive with any Eclipse Season, begin to rise, announcing the Full Moon Eclips, June 5th. Take a deep breath! Create solid ground beneath thy feet. Don your ‘white robe of Moira.’ (It will be a fiery Sagittarian Lunar Eclipse, followed by two more, 6/21 and 7/4. Hubba Hubba!)

THE STORY

The word ‘Moira’ –for me, has an onomatopoeia-sympathy with the word memory, along with mayhem, and madness….all of which are undercurrents of Moira’s lexicon. (Onomatopoeia is the use of words whose sound suggests the sense) Moira is of Greek origin, and you know what that means, a sympathy for tragedy, fate, and the gods descending to earth for mischief. Indeed, ‘Moira means fate, destiny, shared.’ The Moirai, known as the Fates, were white-robed incarnations of destiny. When it went through the ancient Celtic vocabulary, it meant ‘bitter.’ In Ireland, it was used as a woman’s name, and often beautiful women were raised with this ‘bitter name.’

The moira of this time in looking back to wish the present to be the same, AND the looking forward, to wish the future to have a semblance of order, has all the earmarks of a fated, destined, shared time. Except for a terrible few, most of the world is trying to come together to understand what must be done, to share and support knowledge that can move us forward, and to grow empathy, so everyone, at every class level and color, rise together for our brave new world. The Age of Aquarius is birthing itself in a long, slow painful process. The warriors of this new age are building muscle to take a step by step journey where no one has gone before.

Astrology’s Nodal Axis is a symbol of destiny and release. In the birth chart, these opposite points reveal the unknown path you will take in a lifetime. AND the old ways you know and are comfortable with. We usually do not begin a North Node journey until our 40’s, as it takes a deep breath, a pulling up of old well-worn pants to leave the comfort of who we have been to march toward a new life. The Nodes, like all planets, cycle around the zodiac, changing signs every 18 months. When they change signs, as they have just done, we are asked for new evolutionary growth. Oh yaaaa! Our new steps will be in the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity, and you will begin to notice themes fluctuating between questioning validity and self-righteousness, or acknowledging someone’s ideas or being judgmental. The North Node in Gemini asks we think about things before firing off half-assed answers, that we create ‘mental order,’ and listen in balance to speaking. The mind often leads action, so we best pay attention to what we think, how we question, and what thoughts we hold to be dear.

It’s important to grow consciously aware of how we use our mind, and often this occurs because we have misused it. The same is true of physical force. Because there is tension from a Mars-Pluto-Eris configuration, stay tuned-in if you become confrontational. When conscious and in your body, you can side-step it. Also know that you might feel victimized, or angry over an issue you can’t put your finger on, but it’s pissing you off. Sit with why. Sit with old childhood issues that are almost always the source of present grief. Grow awareness from the upset. Make it work FOR you, not against. Mars is travelling through Pisces, not a sign he behaves well in, but like all else, we have the capacity to change how we respond. Let memory, moira and greater consciousness lead the way!

YOUR BIRTHDAY WEEK: This year will be an opportunity to use seeds you’ve been gathering, and perhaps planted at the last New Moon. You are fostering a fiesta of opportunities. The nice aspect is that there are few challenging or hard ball aspects you have to placate. Mainly Mars is goading you and wants to be confrontational. Stay awake and aware and side step the goad. You may discover spirit is sitting beside you, whispering sweet messages in your ear. There is a wellspring of intuiting and accessing inner wisdom. Are you beginning to view the life ahead on a bigger screen? Do you feel that despite sorrow and loss of present times, you are creating ‘wisdom-chops’ to make courageous future decisions? Reach out to others, listen, accept help, and support yourself, especially your body. Make time for self care: body, mind, emotion, & spirit crave attention now. Connect resources within the body to overcome inertia and anxieties.

YOUR PRACTICE: With Mars provoking and providing some conflict, be aware of using this energy wisely on the mat. The more we can work off and out tension and fear, the more stable and balanced we become. This week, the energy is somewhat confrontational. Use it to confront yourself. Push a bit toward doing a difficult pose, always with care, but don’t let old fears hold you back. Build toward this peak pose carefully. Give the body lots of specific stretches to warm the way. In this building process, notice how you slowly gain confidence. Breathe into that. Use breath as a conduit of courage to lead you toward your goal. Remember, thank your body when you’re done. Honor where you are!
