Welcome to a magical Solstice weekend of a Sagittarius New Moon at 27 degrees of Sagittarius, the Galactic Center! After the New Moon, Venus, then Mercury hit this mysterious center of the Milky Way. It’s sublime that we close out this troubled, difficult year on the last New Moon of ’25, conjunct an energetic point that asks for leaps of faith. A time to draw our bow, prime the arrow toward philosophy, higher learning and the meaning of faith. Sagittarius asks us to ponder: Why am I here? Where am I headed? How do I get there? Aim high! Follow his arrow!
Any celestial body aligning with the Galactic Center functions as a spiritual beckoning. It provides opportunity for releasing old patterns with difficult triggers to then assist us to open doors of bigger insights and understanding. This is especially true as Sun/Moon, Venus respectively embrace 27 degrees of Sag. December 18-22, and then on the 30, Mercury of the mind arrives at the threshold. If you have long distance travel, plans that need oversight, questions about higher learning, or courses to take or teach, now is the time to sit with it all and feel incoming answers.
The wonderful Astrologer, Stephanie Austin informed me of the following: “Many indigenous peoples held the Milky Way as a Spirit Road, a ‘Path of Souls’ or a ‘River of Heaven’ a place of ancestral reunion and the afterlife. To the Mayans, the center of the Milky Way galaxy was the Hunab Ku, or Mother Womb, a whirling disk which gave birth to all life.”
Jupiter rules Sagittarius and both shape our sense of reality from a higher perspective. As we close out 2025, we are being offered an extraordinary cosmic gift to support surrendering the old and misbegotten, AND to develop a new sense of reality in updating beliefs and expectations. Bring forward what is unconscious and make it vibrantly conscious. Perhaps through creating moments of ritual out of unconscious, mundane patterns. What lies below might enlighten each day to a greater vibrancy?
If that is not enough ‘light’ for you, here’s another quixotic, Promethean energy at work. Uranus connects to this New Moon in something called a ‘quincunx’ which is 150 degree separation demanding a psychological approach. Quincunx’s ask for repetition to understand how we might best use the complex energies involved. This plethora of very high-minded planetary energies poking us offer unknown, expansive solutions to open to greater consciousness. It’s a big ask, but possibility lies within! Adding to the layers of confusion and opportunity, Saturn and Neptune square this lunation, asking for a big pause to reconsider basic assumptions as to what we think is true. For centuries we thought the earth was flat. Until Copernicus’ work of ‘The Heavenly Spheres’ published in 1543 did we begin to see another possibility to this ‘truth’. The Catholic Church did not formally recognize ‘heliocentrism’ -earth around the sun movement -until 1992! Heavens.
Time to reconsider our ‘TRUTHS’. What blinds us? Where is our perception limited? Every 26,000 years the winter Solstice aligns with the galactic center, intensifying streams off the GC core, upgrading DNA, offering healing, and booting us to leap upward. What a golden, delicious opportunity we are offered to expand vision, ideas, consciousness, connection, and always the truth of love. Within the darkest, longest night we turn toward the return of the light. We remember we are sacred beings with work to do – rebuilding our world.
