- The Covid journey we have undertaken might be a Bardo State. This is a Tibetan Buddhist belief for the time of existence between death and rebirth. How long we are there depends on our conduct, and the manner in which we are choosing to live. Visualize ‘faces of ‘masked-empathy.’
- Staying cool, calm, and civil as we move through September’s headwinds of change may be the work that turns the tide as the fervor of Mars in his Retrograde Station ignites bodies, governments, and earth, to boiling points. Visualize cooling waters.
- The New Moon on the 17th is a well-timed opportunity to begin anew, especially since Jupiter, the rolley-poley one is now direct. Jupiter reminds us to partake of life, but it’s participating to share our riches he most supports. Envision shared-abundance.
- Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hanh, said that the seeds we cultivate, feed, and water are the ones we grow. The indwelling Virgo energies of the New Moon support cultivation and growth of new healthier decisions, and healing intention. Envision yourself wiser, stronger, inspired~ Then walk the talk.
We enter the next chapter of the pandemic as outer planets shift into forward gear through September and early October. By mid-October, you will begin to notice an uptick in the speed, and demand of dismantling the old patriarchy, of cleansing ancient karma, and dogma in psyches and bodies. If it seems bleak, remember potential exists for hope, healing, even wonder, especially with a renewed Jupiterian vision. Step back and visualize the BIG picture. We see what our mind dictates. If we are fearful, we seed fears. If we envision courage, we share courageous ideas. Being responsible for hour to hour consciousness is how we conquer the virus, and move through this Bardo State. Give yourself credit! Some days just getting out of bed is heroic.
With Mars Retrograde, you will have many opportunities to be heroic this fall! Now is a great time to think creatively about how you wish to manifest, and be proactive despite the havoc. 1. Don’t just get out of bed~Make the bed. 3. Be patient! No alcohol until after 5 pm. 4. Check on your neighbor. 5. Give the check-out girl a big “Thanks”, with a smile through the mask. It’s the minute by minute muscle we move with that will see us through this worm hole. The big PS to your list is: Find something/someone to be grateful to and for and with.
The Virgo New Moon offers gifts of discernment, skill, refinement, integration and service. It is closely followed by one of the great ‘turn-corners’ in a year, the Fall Equinox, on 9/22, when summer completes and fall steps in. I love that it enters the day after ‘The International Day of Peace,’ May we create it so! In this Bardo State, let us learn to embody the power of the Peaceful Warrior, the Zen Master/Mistress, and/or the Virgin of Wholeness, despite pock marks, and ravages of error and time. As our world closes into new and greater LockDowns, in hopes of moving forward in 2021, let us find ways to reach out in creative ways and means. It takes a creative courage to move beyond physical boundaries. Use the skillful Virgo tactics of pulling things apart to see their best use, to assign healing as a daily goal, and incarnate your spirit into everything you do and say. With wild child, Uranus, in close aspect to this New Moon, think outside the box! Be an inventive non-conformist to move beyond anxiety and fears, which are also Virgo attributes…. if we invite them in.
As you embrace the gifts offered in the New Moon, remember the passion of Mars, which is in our face until Nov. 14. He is a survivalist planet, a flight or fight enforcer. When angered, he takes few prisoners, making us more reactionary than responsive. Mars works from childhood fears and unconscious habits learned before seven years. In these closing days of the major Retrogrades, before they get up and drag us onward, make it a splendid and healing time to review old patterns of anger and fear, reaction and or courage. Weed out the ones that don’t work. Step back and look at your primary emotional coloring book. What and who created it? Is it still in a survivalist childhood expression?
I leave you with a small ritual of love as we prepare for the New moon and Fall Equinox: Hold a flower to bless the seeds of your labor. Lie on the earth to cultivate calm. Sing an old, beloved song as you create thoughts worthy of feeding. Palm a black stone in Lotus hands as you nurture your grateful heart with joy. Bake a loaf of bread as you harvest hope.
BIRTHDAY MARCHING ORDERS: “This week’s birthdays are in a process of enormous transformation….” As you have a New Moon in your energy field, prepare to renew life on multiple levels. You have just read the many Virgo virtues you are working with, but please stay mindful of not allowing Virgo-critique to overwhelm your positive intentions. With both Venus and Mars, (the feminine and masculine planets involved in relationship,) presently ‘adjusting’ with your Solar Return Sun, you are asked to remain flexible. Be aware that a constant change of plans is part of the big picture. Grow the strengths, that help you release old patterns pulling you back to repeat old habits. Prepare for surprises, which are no longer surprising, and remember to cultivate joy, forgiveness and hope.

The Virgo energy being reborn asks we care for the body in ever deeper ways so we have the power and courage to take on this next chapter. The world is angry, complex, frustrated and passionate enough without us adding to its flames. Classes will be a ‘step-back-surrender’ to making a sweet space to hold the inner life as sacred.
