Dancing in France under this New Moon, I am reminded on every side of birthing greater connection and humanity, of seeding powers to accept and love one another, despite it all…or because of it all. In this dark beginning, we are shadow-selves, reaching out to touch and reassure one other we will be there for this incoming cycle as it blasts forward. Unusually, all planets are direct, enhancing speed, and an ability to take charge and move on. People marched around the world to the drumbeat of Aquarian demands, to the transformative drumming of a waning Uranus-Pluto square, with Jupiter’s ‘bigger is better’ added energies. These three create a T- Square of power forging rebellion and yes, chaos. Think 60’s. In the coming week, as the New Moon light opens and illuminates each of us, use its Aquarian energies of brotherhood and diversity, rebellion and collaboration, to stand up for the right to love, the right to liberty, the right to choose.
This first New Moon of 2017 is also the Moon of the Chinese New Year, the year of the Rooster. Despite its imperious Cock O the Walk call, this is a feminine rooster of fire. Her yin energies are calling to wake us to a fiery, improvisational, and inspirational dawn of boldness. Like its Aquarian counterpart, this New Year rooster wants us to work from a peer stand point, to listen, respect, and work cooperatively. The early morning “Cocka-doodle-do” cry is: “Get out of bed, be prepared, align priorities, don’t run off half-cocked!”
The upcoming week is a busy one, energetically supporting New Year Intentions. Immediately after today’s New Moon, Mercury becomes involved with the T-Square as it aligns with Pluto. This brings depth and truth to our thinking and communication. It also requires we expand our conversations and ideas, and leap into future-awareness. Filling out those ideas is Jupiter’s Retrograde Station, Feb. 5th. You know that whenever a planet is stationing it’s powers are magnified, as well as the issues of the sign it’s passing through. Jupiter stationing in late Libra, until June 9th, asks we expand our ideas about things, especially things of relationship, fairness, equality, and strategy. Jupiter also highlights our philosophy, our ideas about foreign places and people. Our perception about refugees, our country VS their country, our religion VS their religion will come under greater scrutiny during these months. With compassion and awareness we will broaden our hearts to enter a bold Oneness, where perhaps Jupiter’s greatest dreams unfold.
Your Birthday Week: Welcome to a new life! I hope you feel like crowing, not cowering with the possibilities inherent at this time: All planets direct, the Aquarian New Moon, the power imbedded in a T-Square of Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter. Yes, there will be demands placed upon you but you’re stubborn, you’re future-oriented, you can figure them out. This year your thinking and communications will take on deeper resonance. Within the luxe of long, deep stretches, the mind and emotions expand, along with muscles. Add mudras, Pranayama, even a mantra to integrate the nature of not only a long-sweetly-held Asana, but to layer its ability to transform the day. Explore ways and means to engage your Practice at deeper levels from a feminine perspective by listening to the body, and engaging a heart to head connection that speaks of deep satisfaction and healing.
