“The truth is a pathless land.”
– Krishnamurti
Like Aquarians ain’t wild and woolly enough, we are now invited into their home ground of February on a New Moon in Aquarius, with its ruler, the chaotically unpredictable Uranus -Stationing Direct….And this invitational threshold is further energized also as it beckones us into the Lunar Year of the Wood Snake.
*What is it this year of the ‘wood snake’ asks of us?
*How does the New Moon in Aquarius align us to our future?
*What enormous energy shifts shake down from the great sky god, Uranus, as he stops to rattle and roll us onward?
As Aquarius energy seeks a higher truth, take one wonderful quiet moment to surrender yourself to answering these questions as they will occupy your life during the coming month. this ‘high-minded Aquarian Lunation’ is primarily of the mind making it more important than ever to listen to your wisdom body, and intuition. This is especially true as we lie in the crosshairs of dystopian leaders who prefer we don’t think, don’t listen to inner guidance, and demand we follow them off the cliff.
Have you turned off the news as many have? Are you wondering how to engage? Dis-engage? Asking what is right action, or is there any action to be taken? How can we shun life? Ignore those in peril? Turn from protecting the rule of law, the environment, our neighbors and allies? I am reminded of a Yoga decree called avidya which is a practice from the Sutras explained as a state of not knowing, seeing, or caring. Easy to go there when life is dark, and we cannot see the journey ahead. But the question remains of ‘how now brown cow?’ How shall we awaken from our despair and fury? It’s possible some answers lie within the complexity of this New Moon.
Personally, I seek answers to the question, “How can I channel my anger as a power for right will?” Since many of us are ‘spirit warriors’- how can we turn our back on those in need? During the upcoming days of this high-minded Aquarian Lunation, it is more impertive than ever we listen to our wisdom body as we are under the fear of dystopian leaders who prefer we don’t think, don’t listen to inner guidance, and follow them off the cliff. I’m hoping that as I listen to the emotional anger of my body a new language will reveal how to channel that fury, how to engage my life for new combat. Listening to where the tension lies, how and where it tightens muscle, and shortens breath, perhaps I can interpret a new way of moving into battle despite it being the last thing I wish to do.
The New Moon as fresh energy will enlighten us all, and its ruler, Uranus is called the ‘Big Awakener. already has his boot us to kick our butts not only on but up. He’s been in retrograde review since last September bringing a pause to plans, and uncertainty about what to change. Hopefully, we have been in dialogue with our questions and lack of progress and now feel potential opens to move us in better directions. Be ready as he prefers moving with speed and sudden surprise. Uranus loves to present ‘ah-haaa moments’ often with synchronistic expansiveness. Open your mind, your baby bleus, and intuitive awareness
Making the whole ‘experience’ bigger is Jupiter in a sweet trine to the New Moon. As Jupiter is also in a mental sign, Gemini, our minds might be on fire with great possibilities. But be aware that neither Jupiter or Uranus are known for their structure or boundaries. How much is too much? With the Moon always feeding our emotions, New Moons are supposed to be quiet, inner times of contemplation to gently re-set. I don’t think any of this will happen. We may find it a wild week where expansive viewpoints and Meta-thinking guide us onward. Lean into the healing you seek.
In Chinese tradition, the ‘Wood Snake’ nurtures fire, the color green, and the direction of East to elevate personal growth. It asks us to put to good use the fire element of passion, creativity and beginnings and burn ‘the wood’ of what we know. Observe the flames as old ideas morph into smoke, morphing entirely new concepts. This is also a year about beginnings and endings. You don’t say. Personally, I think that slithering out from old skins and habits is a deeply powerful way to move through this year. We may all go up in flames, but let’s make it a magnificent fire!
We have several appeals to keep hearts open and mercy on the table, faint as the voices are: We remain in the deep waters of Neptune’s closing time in the spiritual sea of Pisces, where Saturn, father of time and boundaries also floats, quieting his often loud decrees ‘to be perfect, and be the boss.’ With the love goddess, Venus, presently embracing Neptune we have all the heart we ever need. Plan the future with that as a talisman. The warrior Mars remains retrograde in watery Cancer where emotions are entangled and possibly frustrated, but they are not yet marching to war. That possibility begins to emerge at the end of February as Mars moves direct and may be fired up when Mars moves into Leo, April 19. With Jupiter Rx until Feb. 4th, his exuberance is somewhat quieter. Not known as fearsome or belligerent, he nonetheless expands whatever he touches. For the time being those elements are air and water. Be glad it’s not fire…. not yet.
While we are still in re-set mode, think about who and what you are willing to stand up for. Kindle compassion and courage. Therein lies life. (Remember courage comes the French coeur meaning heart.) Those who are big hearted have greater courage. Those who are bullies are led by fear. Joseph Campbell wrote, “The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty “Yes!” to your adventure.”
