Amazon Queen

Sometimes when least expected, a magical event appears from haphazard seed. It seems all the more special as magic is in short supply these days. The following tiny story comes to you full of magical possibility, born of an odd thought in an insouciant moment

Our Yoga community celebrates.  We create ritual for the earth at its four quadrants of change; Vernal Equinox, Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox, and Winter Equinox.  We do Suns and Lunars for Full and New Moons, plus follow festivities of many religions.  We celebrate everyone’s birthday with cupcakes, candles, songs and silly hats, and tiaras. Few go unscathed and un-sung. Yoga-life is about celebrating life- as much as it is about standing the mat.

This story is about the translation of light from one celebration to another, one world to another, one heart to another.  It unfolds from a Yogini’s birthday just as she prepares to leave for the Amazon, an interior trek deep into unknown territory.  We sing her song, she blows out candles, but the wonderfully corny crown suits her curls and incandescent spirit too well.  Looking at her brightness, it suddenly becomes clear that she is to drive off in the tiara, and more, she is to include it in her back pack and offer it to a woman, a young queen, in the Amazon.

It is only an instant’s recognition, silly, wayward, nonsensical, yet right.  A bargain is struck, and the tiara heads off into the unknown. It is a seed of light, a silly offering of shared grace, holding abstract opportunity to be part of other’s celebrations, and community.  This is magical enough, but you know that there is more translating beneath the surface.  Energy fields we know nothing about have been activated. Because these un-seen fields were birthed from joy, because they were offered out, and on-ward from loving kindness, and the desire to share, with nothing expected in return….you know something magical has taken place.

Planetary Energies

We enter the last Quarter Moon phase on Friday the 13th, which is an amenable day for ancient spells.  Despite present inner tensions, Last Quarter phases are times of reflection and dissemination; information garnered off a Full Moon.  That last Super Full Moon should have garnered a lot of gold-difficult and otherwise.  With Mars and Pluto changing directions, we feel stymied about moving forward.  Wait until next week for greater clarity and energy.  As Mars stations on the 13th, he does it opposite Neptune, which tells us we are either magical, mad, or delusional.  You pick.  We’ve had a time of otherworldly spacey-ness, which can offer inner visions, but makes it hard to act constructively in the world.  Now, we need to lightly hold the polarity of practicality and magic to best see the next step.  Ideally, we believe in visions creating magic, while doing the tough stuff, the daily chop wood-carry water.

Helpful Practice Notes

*Create a daily Practice that is grounding, standing poses that align you to your bones- and to the earth.  Feel the soles of your feet connecting to dirt and grass.

*Chant for the abundance within and without, for others and self:

Om sri maha, Locksmeyei, swaha.”

*Be at peace with not being at the top of your game.  Surrendering to what is -can offer peace—and helps balance frustrations.

*Pay attention to your visions, and dreams.  Seeds of a potent future are presently gestating.

* Find a class offering Yoga Nidra, this is the dream-state between awake and sleep where deep rest, respite, and creativity occur. (Jennifer Harvey teaches a 7:00 pm Monday night class at Laughing Dog in Wellesley.)

If you wish short, Astrological bites during the week, go to Samantha Cameron/YogaWoman on facebook.  For a larger Astrological meal -go to Rich Humbert for a good plateful: www.celestialweather.com
