Astrology & Yoga of Transformation

This First Quarter Moon in Virgo is a contrapuntal mix of energies having everything to do with ideas and thoughts as we unconsciously prepare for the standstill of Mercury’s retrograde station on Saturday, 7th.  Because of Mercury’s  strong involvement in many of the lunations,  there may be major shifts in how we perceive, interpret, and share ideas and information. Some of it will stall for further review and consideration during this three week retrograde.  (Back up your computers, don’t buy a car, or technology, unless you can return it.  Double check all important signed documents.)

Mercury at this time has great significance, not only because it’s braking to turn around, which throws off daily schedules, (often because computers have minds of their own,) but it ruled last week’s New Moon in Gemini, the starting gate for this cycle.   It rules this First Quarter Moon, AND it rules the Sun in upcoming Full Moon of the 12th.  If you think that every thought doesn’t count, think again.  It’s a time to stand on a mountain top and view all the bits and pieces of life as one grand landscape, then decide-three weeks from now, how all those tiny parts can create a more magnificent whole: whole of you, whole of the world, a light-body to Universal connection.

Also assisting in the review period of creating wider visions and spirit-opening, on the 9th Neptune stations to go retrograde. Because it is far away, and slow moving, it does not impact our intimate daily lives the way Mercury does, but it will affect the big picture, our larger connections and evolution.

Do not be surprised if enlightenment and ‘ahaaa moments’ fill your days and dream nights.  They may come from old friends resurfacing (Mercury Retrograde).  They may arrive from the chaotic force field of yet again another grand cross in the heavens, asking we consider, if not leap upon entirely new ideas, and roads.  For those who prefer knowing what’s ahead, my sympathies.  As a Taurus Sun, I too prefer seeing the lay of the land. But lately, as you might infer from the poem,  “Lean Back”, I’ve given up forward drive to see what the Universe is bringing.  Yes, it’s scary, fascinating, exciting.

My Practice is supporting the shift of forward drive to lean-back mode:

I’m breathing into every Asana with greater intention, listening to where the breath wishes to create the Asana, rather than forming it first through muscle and bone.  And yes, poses are holding differently.

I am singing, and or chanting within the Practice, which not only forms breath differently, it creates an emotional embrace of time on the mat.

I set intention to listen to the instinctive voice when unfinished business, fears, or chaos rise within a pose. I don’t have to know what it’s about, I just listen and allow healing and Grace to breathe into the body.

I finish the Practice with a Shakti Dance which always confirms the profound connection of spirit, mind, body, and emotion, and sets me free to begin anew.
