Aug. 4~12 Steamy Shape Shifting

If you feel you are shape-shifting, you probably are. This could be due to Saturn, lord of time, and karma, our teacher, taskmaster, and tester moving forward again, albeit slowly. (If you wish more Saturn knowledge, go to Astrology/winter quadrant/Capricorn.)

This week the ‘taskmaster’ in Scorpio squares jolly Jupiter in Leo. The two planets are traveling through fixed signs that do not wish to change. Scorpio is the element of water, even frozen water. Leo is fire, a passionate flame of the heart. Water puts out fire creating steam. They transform each other’s make up, which is what the world is asking of our social structure and of us personally.  There are lessons for our learning in their square. Saturn and Jupiter are political/social animals and when their push comes to shove, we see it on national news. Since Saturn is the stronger presence, there will be numerous reality checks, despite Jupiter’s gaseous optimism and ebullient generosity.

Since Scorpio’s energy imbues Saturn until the middle of Sept., we have this time to dig deep and get it right. This Jupiter/Saturn square pushes us to engage and expand old structures, old childhood bones of belief. You may have begun feeling some of this push last week as you grew focused, or felt more decisive in reaching a goal. By Thursday, there is a Mars-Saturn trine adding extra oomph to harness our efforts of consolidating, learning, becoming more mature and self-disciplined.

With both planets in water signs, (Mars in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio) along with Venus retrograde, along with a soupçon of Pluto in the mix, expect to be emotionally titillated if not submerged. Get your water wings out. Stay afloat in the sea of feelings by observing how far you have come. Give yourself credit for lessons well done, even if there’s more to learn, and when ain’t there? But knowing you, I see you stronger, and more compassionate than before. You are not grasping to control the issue as you once did. You are moving from a greater sense of power over self, rather than power over another. Brava Brava!

(For referencing these energies, read the Astrology for July 21 on Venus Retro info. And Last week’s Notes for Mars in Cancer.)  Our Yoga this week is about balancing left and right, top and bottom, free and formed, fast and slow. Through Asanas, we seek to hold the confluence of multiple energies and directions, acknowledging Saturn structure, with Jupiter free-form serving the body.

A key pose in working with the 6th chakra, this week’s inner focus, we re-define outwardly through Salamba Sarvangasana/Shoulder stand. For informative notes go to: yoga /yoga poses /inversions.

Working with the 6th chakra, we open to the Ajna, or Third Eye. Here we come home to balance and re-direct ourselves with greater integrity and understanding. It’s element is ‘mahat,’ or the great element in which all other elements are present in pure essence. Its seed sound/bija is “Aum,” the vibration connecting human to Universal Source. It is depicted as a two-petaled lotus, representing the polarization of the mind, and it’s meeting place. It is here we open our visualizations, intuition, and ‘self purpose.’
