Pluto, as archetype of Dark Lord/Angelic Force, is in ‘stand-still’ POTENCY. The remarkable intensity in the sky is mirrored in the Kavanaugh/Dr. Ford face off. ‘As above-so below.’
Venus in Scorpio, energetically connected to and ruled by Pluto, goes Retrograde Oct. 5th, moving toward her darkest phase before gaining light to once again become ‘The Morning Star.’
THE STORY
If ever you wanted to see planetary influence at work, Astrology in action revealed in the head lines/story line, it is all present in the tragic circus of the Kavanaugh-Ford trial. Pluto’s force field of sex, death, power, and politics is revealed in the good, the bad, and the transformative. We see a senate whose power has run amuck. We see the transformative light of she who steps out from under old controls of misplaced power, particularly sexual power. Pluto in authoritarian Capricorn, (residing here 2008-2024) is about evolutionary lessons of personal authority, wounds of legitimacy, the power to overcome fear, and be the CEO of our life. Capricorn is conservative. It is the ‘Big Daddy’ version of doing life correctly. And the fear of not doing it correctly, or being right, or good enough.
During the past five months of Pluto’s retrograde passage in Capricorn, you may have been looking back at old wounds of ‘legitimacy.’ What has kept you from being powerful? Where have you suffered other’s abuse, and what are you now willing to do about it? Note Blasey Ford spoke up despite fear. She moved into her moment of history, and she could be heard differently, because this is ‘the time.’ She could speak softly, yet potently because she has done years of truth-seeking homework.
Many partnerships will will enter divorce, toxic friendships and jobs will change, break, come to an end, or transmute. They seem tragic endings, but Pluto is paving the way to inhabit our lives profoundly. For those who have been deep diving, you will feel a freedom from inner-demons. We will all hear the sound of death in some form as Scorpio is the guardian at the gate of the great mysteries; birth, sex, death. Pluto, as the farthest planet out in our solar system, has the longest review periods, enabling us to delve into its immense and complex issues. There have been layers of planetary retrograde review the past five months. I hope you found them to be an opportunity to see and comprehend, then fix, and now -move on differently.
Pluto rules the underworld, the dark recesses, and shadow. Unconsciously, we can choose to live in the dull pain of shadow, or we can be adventuring pirates on high seas of self-discovery. As Marianne Williamson said, “Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we learn.” Through loving self, we make the commitment to inner work, supporting us to midwife the collective.
The week’s fascinating intersection of Pluto and Venus moves inexorably into how we LOVE…. Authentically, in grown up LOVE. On Friday, Venus turns Retrograde, vibrating passionately for 40 days. This Scorpio pass takes her through her darkest passage, not only energetically, where she is not at ease being ruled by the Dark Lord, but she also prepares her Helical Rise at the end of Oct. in the first degree of Libra. This is when once again she re-enters as the Morning Star, aligned with the Sun. Before that, Venus visually disappears from the night sky. Here, she becomes more of ‘the great awakener,’ which is not her usual mission.
The ancient Mayans experienced her invisibility as ‘bringing an unsteadiness to earthly affairs,’ and more particularly, “embarrassment of the ruler.” Venus, as ruler of love, money, relationships and value heading into major review in sexually, power hungry Scorpio, shall upend and reveal all manner of past imbalances in sexual power plays, and shame. The ‘Me Too movement’ will be heard as never before! Venus does not move direct until Nov. 16. Make the most of her break down, break through activism in relationship and financial review.
Venus in Scorpio is emotionally intense! We confront the other, AND our unconscious shadow, where we are called to be brave and unearth the past. Does it not seem that in every moment we are being called to be braver, that the stakes are higher…that the requirement to dig ever deeper, stand even taller, be stronger, wiser, and empathetic is sucking our life force for its creation? There is no way out, my friends. We are in the cauldron. Go take a nap so you can once again enter the fray. The October focus is on finances, relationship, and the motivations behind ideas of self worth, value, and love. Where is Scorpio in your chart? This will be a targeted area of re-evaluation

YOUR BIRTHDAY WEEK: Be prepared to see your roles changing. How healthy are your relationships? What changes do you wish to create, but please don’t begin a new relationship while Venus is Retrograde. You may deal with an old relationship that comes back for closure and healing. You are digging deeper than you ever have before, and there is a great deal of awakening all year. If you can take this as the journey of the heart, you will grow. If you stutter, letting shadow and the past overwhelm, take a deep breath and try again. Trust yourself to be your most authentic, intimate, worthy, liberating YOU! Promise yourself you will discover what nurtures you so that you are free to love completely.
YOUR PRACTICE: Stand in Dharmachakra Mudra, close your eyes and feel the wheel of life turning to move you onward. Ask, what holds you back? What needs more love? Where are amends required? Where does shame still live? Where was courage flying high? Then with a deep breath, hang over, let your brains fall out, and move into the pose you love the most. Then move into the one that scares you. What’s the difference between them? Practice. The answer to changing your life is to love yourself enough to show up and practice. Nothing more required.
