THEMES
- Tuesday’s New Moon in Cancer is an emotional change agent. We needs must surrender to free ourselves and start over. It’s an opportunity to be fearless and released of conditioning. Break out/Break through.
- Eclipse season is upon us. Those who like surprises, love this territory. Surprise yourself by making heart your true north, and your home your spirit abode.
- The power-duet of Saturn/Pluto continues to play havoc with the rules of power, those in power, and the conscious use of power over self.
At our country’s birthday, we stand on yet another precipice of shifting turbulence. The Eclipse on July 2 sits on the American Sun, fulfilling the prophecy of huge changes, especially with our allies, and the power base and lies at the top.
THE STORY
Light is revealed by darkness. Eclipses are blasts of energy that clean out dark spaces. They affect electromagnetic fields. They move into shadowed material to reveal what needs light and healing. The July 2nd’ Solar Eclipse at 10 Cancer is a wake-up call offering opportunity to open doors of Emotional Intelligence. It might take us down emotional rabbit holes. It may offer healing and grace to families torn apart. Or, it might tear families asunder. Many are leaving homes they have lived in for years, or re-doing spaces within the home, or possibly, coming home, safety, Many are starving for affection, and nurturing tenderness. Many are starving. The elders are departing: the family, the marriage, the planet. Their time is up, their job done, their children are ready- or not.
Eclipses come in pairs and open doors into opposite energies; a face off that offers a mirrored Yin/Yang earning perspective. They expose raw places that need attention. They change the landscapes. How your personal landscape is transposed depends greatly on how much work, and consciousness effort you have spent in that area. This Eclipse in the Cancer-landscape, asks not only for understanding and healing issues of home, family, country, and tribe, but nurturing and safety of self, as well as others.
A large component of Emotional Intelligence is the ability to respond from a centered place, and to be able to surrender your viewpoint in order to see from the other side. That may take extra effort this coming week. Pay attention to sword rattling and grandiosity as emotions are running high, and Mercury is preparing to Station and turn Retrograde on the 7th. If you don’t do or say it well the first time, guess what? You’ll get to do it again. With the Moon ‘eclipsing’ the Sun, the feminine is in full force, which offers opportunity to balance masculine and feminine efforts. But remain aware that the masculine does not appreciate ‘being eclipsed’ and may unconsciously overstep boundaries. (PS Do remember to back everything up! Take extra care with contracts, don’t buy a car or computer now.)
As promised last week, here is a paragraph examining the national impact of this Eclipse, which hits the Sun of America’s chart….”born on the 4th of July.” Historically, we’ve had several Eclipses activate the American Sun at 13 degrees of Cancer, but the most relevant to this year harks back to 1973 when the topic of impeaching Nixon was front and center. We also have ‘familiar’ outer planetary forces involved in ramping up the ongoing power struggle between truth and lies. With transiting Pluto and Saturn opposing America’s Mercury, it’s a battle royal between the powers that be and the free press, and between whose lies you believe and whose you don’t. Saturn and Pluto are opposing Trump’s Saturn and Venus in Cancer, placing his career and social status under great pressure. And this Eclipse is on his Mercury, which impacts his ability to tell lies and get away with it. The blind belief in his deceptions may be coming to an end. Having America’s Sun eclipsed will affect partnerships with allies, and how they view us. Our national Sun is placed in the seventh house of partnership, which has supported this country creating alliances that have enhanced our status and power. I don’t need to tell you, this is being tested.

YOIUR BIRTHDAY WEEK: I can just feel your excitement about your new life! You have either leaped, or are getting ready to leap into a brave new world. As a Cancer, I know you are anxious, and prefer hiding under the blanket, preferably with cookies to hand, but you have been building muscle of late, and now it’s time to use it. Yes, life is nervous-making, but enjoy the greater understanding you have been awakening. It’s beginning to show, and will reap great rewards this year. Let your tender heart lead the way. It’s always right!
YOUR PRACTICE THIS WEEK: GO YIN, GO TO JOY, DO YOGA WITH YOUR TRIBE. This is a wonderful week to step off the mat and onto the sand, the grass, the dirt, and feel your poses through feet chakras, and marma points. Suck up the grounded, nurturing vibe as you inhale, and let go hurt and anxiety with the exhale. The New Moon in Cancer calls for a Practice that heals and nurtures, self and others. As you stand under her energies, visualize your Lotus Mudra filled with heart-seeds of intention, revealing your your next step.
