TRUE NORTH~The New Moon Cycle March 24-30

THEMES

  • Cycles informing us of change, redemption and release: As in ~when was the last time the world gave you permission to stop?

  • Pan’s iconic mythology, along with clarity about ‘why toilet paper,’ come to clarity and understanding.

  • Scott Fitzgerald reminds us of the poetic grace necessary when under duress. Time to write poems of gratitude to one another.

  • As physical isolation increases, we are magnetized to draw ever closer into emotional arms of love. A True North if ever there was.

THE STORY

Descending into surreal inner spaces and deep silence, we move within cycles, circling possibilities of enormous growth and transformation. From the tiny cycle of a 24 hour day to the 735 year cycle in the passing of an age, we are layered in beginnings and endings. The virus provides big prods for unprecedented progress for this cycle, and upcoming, if we make correct choices. If we can stay heart-connected through unknown fears, we can make our way through this wormhole toward the creation of an amazing new world….a True North built on ‘Emotional Intelligence.’ When we are in unknown territory, awash in fear and feeling, Astrology can help us understand the what and why of these feelings. It can offer a compass into the archetypal complexities of where we are. It takes the long view, helping us step back from being lost and anxious. We see the bigger picture, one where the lack of joy, disconnect from spirit, and the compression of a Saturn/Pluto descent, can also move us toward a new healing viewpoint, revealing what is real, despite improbability, even impossibility.

Before going into the week’s Astrology, I’m sharing a beautiful letter by F. Scott Fitzgerald from1920. It was a cycle much like this one, when people were terrified and quarantined during the Spanish flu. Read it as a reminder of remaining steady as we return to mayhem once again. Read it as a reminder that we shall prevail once again, thanks to love, laughter, beauty, and compassionate, poetic connection.

Dearest Rosemary,
It was a limpid dreary day, hung as in a basket from a single dull star. I thank you for your letter. Outside, I perceive what may be a collection of fallen leaves tussling against a trashcan. It rings like jazz to my ears. The streets are that empty. It seems as though the bulk of the city has retreated to their quarters, rightfully so. At this time, it seems very poignant to avoid all public spaces. Even the bars, as I told Hemingway, but to that he punched me in the stomach, to which I asked if he had washed his hands. He hadn’t. He is much the denier, that one. Why, he considers the virus to be just influenza. I’m curious of his sources.

The officials have alerted us to ensure we have a month’s worth of necessities. Zelda and I have stocked up on red wine, whiskey, rum, vermouth, absinthe, white wine, sherry, gin, and lord, if we need it, brandy. Please pray for us.

You should see the square, oh, it is terrible. I weep for the damned eventualities this future brings. The long afternoons rolling forward slowly on the ever-slick bottomless highball. Z. says it’s no excuse to drink, but I just can’t seem to steady my hand. In the distance, from my brooding perch, the shoreline is cloaked in a dull haze where I can discern an unremitting penance that has been heading this way for a long, long while. And yet, amongst the cracked cloud line of an evening’s cast, I focus on a single strain of light, calling me forth to believe in a better morrow.

Faithfully yours,
F. Scott Fitzgerald

From F. Scott’s ‘single strain of light,’ I add mine, to yours, to ‘light our way forth to believe in a better morrow.’ Open your toolbox and take out ways and means to contain the paranoia. Be conscious of personal fears and accusations, as these attack the pre frontal cortex and traumatize thinking. We cannot make executive decisions from a dark energy field. Time to purge and clear from a deeper awareness. Time to practice being present in every moment. Our job is to unearth the dark layers, the deep shit hidden within. In this slow and silent space of now, let us snuggle up to ‘the dark night of the soul.’ We cannot leap over, or ignore its intimate proximity. Time to sit and purge. Hence the run on toilet paper. Saturn and Pluto, the big boys of this year’s viral run, are about control, power, cleaning out, and transforming our shit. This may not come to consciousness, but when you have a world with a run on toilet paper, you realize that some part of our psyche is aware of the necessity to purge, and clean. Saturn’s lockdown anchors us in place to do the work of the evolving soul seeking higher vibration. We are letting go in order to lift off. What an amazing opportunity lies before us!

This ‘opportunity’ may open Pandora’s Box, a mythic jar containing poverty, sickness and unknown trials. It also held tiny stinging creatures that attacked Pandora. But perhaps Pandora, in being stung, became immune to illness, poverty and sorrow? Perhaps the experience brought her a new understanding of pain, teaching her to choose differently? I bring up the seemingly unrelated fact of Pandora because in this Capricorn time, Pan is the Goat God, half human, half goat, who is Capricorn’s iconic figurehead. With the many planets moving through Capricorn this year, it’s weirdly natural to find ourselves panicked in a pandemic, pandemonium, without a panacea. The Greek root of the word means all, or ‘of everything’. The acronym, PAN stands for ‘Personal Area Network’ which is what we are all trying to create at home as we panic without the panacea of work.

Information on the virus is moving out to the people faster, with Saturn’s move into Aquarius. The vox populous/the people’s voice, will have more power and say than before. You already see this in the States taking over control, rather than waiting for information from the top. Aquarius, an air sign, is about equality, the collective, and communication. It is a futuristic sign that shares and opens information on injustices, and inequalities, often moving ‘the people’ toward revolution. With the viral spread, each of us needs to be more conscious of choices, words, and actions, for they not only affect others, but have long term consequences. With Saturn in Aquarius, we are learning greater cooperation, obeying large social rules. We realize personal actions have consequences for everyone. Someone may die if we don’t fall in line. This is a difficult concept for a nation built on wild west individualism. But during the coming two years, especially, we will be taking more action about our humanity. This seed time, under the New Moon, is a quiet opportunity to rebalance, heal and discover our gifts that offer greater power and nurturing to the people, so we reconnect and support one another.

If you wish to express your unique individualism, reveal it under the guidance of today’s New Moon in Aires, sign of the warrior. This 29 day cycle speaks to communal healing as it is conjuncts Chiron, the wounded healer. (Chiron is an asteroid, discovered 1977, that has become a potent signature of where we are wounded, how we can heal, AND how we share knowledge on how to accomplish that.) Chiron has been in Aires, sign of the warrior, since 2018, and remains there until 2026. Wounding in Aires has to do with masculine archetypes, the patriarchy, as well as feeling wounded about who we are; as in I feel inadequate, I lack trust in my sense of self, my individualism. These deep issues require dedicated practices to heal. This is a New Moon offering opportunity to learn to be present to who we are, and to honor that, warts and all. We have a ‘viral opportunity’ to teach and learn that we can’t go it alone, that our highly individualistic society needs rebalancing. We will experience lessons about imbalances in the masculine/feminine within, and that the overweening patriarchy cannot continue in the same old way, The virus, as a wounded healer, teaches love, and the unexpected joys of connection, as well as distancing and fear. In my imagination, I stand on my balcony to join you, my neighbors, my street, my town, my country to play my violin, join in song, dance with my castanets. I ask we heal by sharing our unique talents through laughter, music, writing, movement and tears. It is the tears that touch us to our connected core…especially when we laugh ‘til we cry! With you all in tears and laughter.

YOUR BIRTHDAY WEEK: Those of you born under this New Moon of healing and individual expression, have an amazingly creative year ahead. As many of you know, this includes my man, Allan Cameron, whose birthday is today, the 24th. As you wish him well, include other birthday celebrants, AND honor your re-birth desires for healing and creative expression. There is a wonderful opportunity to connect low mind to high mind with a sextile between Mercury and Uranus, as well as connecting to greater understanding of the social psyche. There is a power surge to support new moves, with Mars bumping into Jupiter and Pluto. The earthy grounding, and the airy-sharing promise a year of great interaction, creative force, and healing connection. Have at it!

The Astrological Consult: THIS is an opportune moment for observation and strategic reset through a consultation. View your life and the unknown road ahead through an Astrological toolbox that supports your vision without judgment, options with greater clarity, and insights of understanding. YOUR PRACTICE: Last week I wrote:Make your Practice a ritual.” This week I include ideas for rituals of birth and beginnings. On the mat, make your Practice one of small ceremonial Asanas, giving you emotional satisfaction, especially on how to enter a kryia. Be slow, thoughtful, and sweet, for under the dark of any New Moon there is never much energy. We are supposed to be releasing the past, using Pranayama practices such as Kapalabhati to digest and release what no longer serves. We are to listen, rather than take action. We are to soothe and soften the Practice to heal rather than force the body into difficult poses. Save those for the energy of a Full Moon. Under this Aires New Moon, sit with the Lotus Mudra, into its petals, plant luminous seeds of intention, chant songs connecting you to Universal Source, and as you grow still, feel magical!

UPCOMING SCHEDULE:

Tomorrow, Wed. 25, I will be teaching online for Laughing Dog Yoga. Tune into their website for information on how to join. Not sure if it will be via face book or zoom. Either way, will love having you part of that Practice.

Thursday 26, I will teach a free Pilates mat class on face book. Go to my face book page, Samantha Cameron, and either join live at 8:30 AM, or you can tune in after the fact to access class. God knows we are all growing round and soggy with sitting on the couch and planning the next meal. Here’s a fun hour to work some of that off.

Saturday 28, we are hoping to have zoom classes up and running. I will send information as we better understand the process.

NB   I have decided in this difficult time to offer my personal class on a donation basis. If you have work and can pay, great. If not, come anyway. We all need to care for our bodies. Stay tuned for new information on how to join me in the light.
